My time with Peyton & Ken Friday on Mud Island for their riverside engagement session in Memphis was so full of laughter my cheeks hurt on the drive home! The Word says that laughter is good medicine, and Friday was truly balm to my soul!
Peyton & Ken both live on Mud Island in Memphis, TN. Mud Island is a peaceful riverside community just a short drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Memphis. We spent most of our time along the river, which has become a very special place for Peyton & Ken.
How God Brought Them Together
My newest Meridith Lee couple met at Mississippi State during their freshman year. They were in some of the same classes and even shared a chemistry book. He told Peyton that he liked liked her right before the summer as he was going off to camp with no way of contact except through letters! So this sweet couple wrote old fashioned letters to each other that summer and began officially dating when they returned to MSU in the fall.
How He Proposed
Peyton and Ken both recently moved to Memphis. He started his job there and she is starting school. Peyton continues, “My favorite thing to do is go on picnics. We have always gone on them since we have been together. We live on Mud Island that is surrounded by rivers where we like to go on walks. What I thought was just a normal picnic date night in one of our “spots” ended up being the BEST surprise ever! Ken is the best and I am usually the worst and try to figure out surprises, but he kept this one from me which made it so so special!! He put in so much thought to our engagement and planned a surprise party with all of our families! It was the most special day that I will treasure forever.”
My Prayer For You
Peyton & Ken, I have prayed for you as I have edited the images from your Riverside Engagement Session in Memphis. The word that keeps coming to my mind is “encourager”. You are two of the most encouraging people I have ever met! This is truly a gift that the Lord will use to advance His Kingdom! Hard times WILL come. Jesus said, “in the world you WILL have trouble. Take heart, I have overcome the world.” Your gift of encouragement will help both you and those around you get through the hard times. It will even help you to see God’s hand at work in the midst of the hard.
Holy Spirit, continue to fill Peyton & Ken with joy and strength as they move forward into all You are calling them to! I ask you to surround them with like minded community as they look for a new church body to join in Memphis. Give them peace and wisdom and they begin their life together, knowing that you are guiding their steps. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
My time with you was such an encouragement for me! And your prayers have greatly blessed me!! I can’t wait to see you both again at Fairview Inn in March!!
