I get to work with the most amazing couples, and Haley and Josh are no exception! We had the best time getting to know each other on Friday at their Town of Livingston engagement session!!
If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times. Engagement session are one of my favorite parts of the Meridith Lee Wedding Experience! Not only do I get to coach my couples through my posing system without the pressure and time crunch of a wedding day, but it gives me a chance to get to know them. I want to show up on your wedding day. as a friend who celebrates with you! And I feel like that mission was accomplish on Friday as Haley, Josh and I shared stories and had fun!
Haley and Josh wanted to include their golden retriever Molly is a few of their images. Molly was an absolute rock star dog model!! I love how these first family pictures turned out!!
How they met…
I asked Haley to tell me about how she and Josh first met. I just love their story!!
Josh and I actually met in our youth group at church my junior year of high school and his senior year. I invited him to come play ultimate frisbee with my friend group one Sunday night. He texted me that night and we became best friends! No feelings, just friends. For a whole year, we endured so many questions of “why aren’t y’all dating?” or “Do y’all like each other?” and every answer was the same… “We’re just friends.”
A year into our friendship, he asked me to go to prom and that’s where the feelings began! A few months later he asked me to be his girlfriend. We are 4 years into this thing and we are so excited for the adventures ahead!
How he proposed…
When I asked how he proposed, Haley shared…
The proposal was everything I could have ever imagined! A full day of events that led to the special moment. It started with lunch after church with my whole family, then coming home to flowers and a letter from Josh on my dresser.
My dad then took me to feed the ducks at a local lake (a place very special to me and my grandfather who just passed away) and he gave me the whole spill of how he has prayed for us, etc. My family is really special to me so having their prayers and blessings were just what I needed! Dad then dropped me off at the nail salon, where I met up with my mom and grandmother to get my nails done.
Then Josh picked me up and took me to a pecan orchard that he always went to as a kid and had the full set up there!! It was such a special moment for us!
My Prayer For You
Haley and Josh, as I have edited the images from your engagement session, I have prayed for you. The word that keeps coming to my mind is LEGACY. Jesus has blessed you with a rich spiritual legacy from your parents and grandparents. This is a legacy that you will continue and pass down to future generations.
Paul’s words to “fight the good fight” also come to my mind. I encourage you to fight for your marriage every day. Fight to keep Jesus first and your marriage relationship second. This is the foundation that your legacy will be built on. It is the example that your children and grandchildren will follow. A marriage built on a solid foundation in Christ will advance the Kingdom of Heaven in powerful ways!!
