Backyard Wedding on Lake Lorman | Mr and Mrs Carmichael

Mississippi Lakeside Wedding

I started this business because deep in my heart I believe that a wedding is about so much more than all the pretty details. A wedding day is really about the beginning of a marriage. It is a picture of Jesus Christ returning for His pure and spotless bride, the church! I started this business because I want to tell the story that captures the love and joy of the day a couple says “I do” and really mean for it to last until only death separates them. Caroline & Ian’s lilac and white backyard wedding on Lake Lorman was everything I have built my business for!

Plans change, love remains.

When I first met Caroline & Ian last summer they were planning a big wedding at First Baptist Jackson with the reception at The South. As the wedding day drew near plans were changed to meet the current COVID-19 situation. Caroline’s emails and phone calls to me were always so encouraging! Throughout all the uncertainly her heart has focused on marrying the love of her life, and lifting high the name of Jesus! Everything else was just…. details.

The location was moved to the family lake house, and the guest list was scaled back to simply the family and bridal party. It may not have been the day they originally envisioned, but Caroline & Ian’s backyard wedding on Lake Lorman was absolutely perfect!

The Wedding Day

The rain came. The rain went. The ceremony time changed two or three times. The timeline was thrown out and we simply went with the flow. No matter what the weather was doing outside, JOY was the prevalent mood in the atmosphere!

The clouds parted just in time for the ceremony. The gentle breeze coming off the lake kept the air cool and the bridesmaids dresses flowing beautifully! Ian’s reaction as he caught his first glempse of Caroline was priceless. There was not a dry eye in the small gathering of friends and family.

Pastor Chip Stevens of First Baptist Church Jackson shared a message on Biblical marriage that brought tears to my eyes. Jesus Christ was certainly honored in the sacred ceremony where two became one.

As dinner was served on the lawn, toasts were made. Steady. Nice. Friend. Dependable. Perfect for each other. I heard these words repeatedly as Caroline & Ian’s friends and family talked lovingly about the impact these two have had on each of their lives.

It has been such an honor to work with Caroline & Ian throughout their engagement and wedding day! I am honored to know them and to celebrate with them! It has been a joy to capture and edit the images from their beautiful backyard wedding on Lake Lorman!

Cleaning Routines in Quarantine

Quarantine has been the perfect time to create new routines for our family! And today I want to share our new cleaning routine!

With having the kids home All. The. Time. I found myself having a harder time than usual keeping the house clean. I have had “create a chore chart” on my to-do list for months, but never seem to have the time to actually sit down and do it.

Until now!

I have searched and searched over the years for the perfect cleaning checklist, but have never found anything that really fit the needs of my own life and family. So this week I created my own! I have revised it over the last several days until I think I have it perfect… at least for our family!

Click on this image to download my full cleaning system!

I have created a daily, weekly, and monthly checklist that I now have taped on the inside of a kitchen cabinet. Throughout the day I check off what has been done! I love the feeling of accomplishment as I check of each item!

And let’s be honest. Not every task is checked off every day. But there is freedom in knowing that the task will be done the next day, next week, or next month!

I hope this cleaning routine checklist helps bring a little peace and order to this season of chaos in your own home. I know it has been tremendously helpful in ours!

Mr and Mrs Stubbs | Coronavirus Can’t Stop This Love!

COVID-19 Home Wedding

Coronavirus can’t stop this love!

MK + Spencer had big wedding plans. A large guest list. McClain Lodge booked. Bridal party and family flying in from all over the world. Then came coronavirus and social distancing. Necessary changes were made, including moving the wedding up, changing the location to the front yard, then limiting the number all the way down to ten. But the coronavirus can’t stop this love!

While the day may have been very different from what MK + Spencer originally envisioned, it was one of the sweetest wedding days I have ever been a part of!

Mississippi Spring Wedding

Saturday, March 28, 2020 may not have been the original date MK + Spencer picked to hold their wedding celebration. But we could not have asked for a more beautiful day!

coronavirus date change

After changing their wedding date, MK + Spencer realized that the new wedding date was also the five year anniversary of their first date! Who knew a prom date would turn into wedding bells?!?!

Coronavirus wedding

To keep the number of people at the wedding as low as possible, Bethany of Oak Experience and I were the only two vendors in attendance. Bethany’s floral designs are always amazing! I especially love capturing her bridal bouquets!

I just love a bride getting ready in her mother’s bedroom! There is something just so sweet about the history and familiarity of the setting.

Social distancing would not stop MK’s bridesmaids from having their first look via FaceTime!

Creating Routine During Quarantine

Creating routine during quarantine? Yep. You read that right.

Between spring break and the following school closures, my kids have now been home for two full weeks. We are all going a little crazy, to put it mildly! By mid afternoon my toddlers are quite literally bouncing off the walls, and let’s just say I am not handling it well.

One of my goals at the beginning of 2020 was to establish a daily schedule with regular routines and rhythms. Unfortunately with the busy every day life, this goal keeps getting pushed to the side for the sake of my business and/or ministry. I began to recognize that I was over extended in February, and Holy Spirit led me to release a leadership role at church as well as classes I was taking that would eventually lead to ordination. Letting go of “busy” has not been easy, and it is a process. But it has been necessary.

And now it feels like so much has come to a screeching halt in our world. COVID-19 has us spending the majority of our time at home and practicing social distancing. As an introvert this sounds glorious! Ha! But as a mom with three kids at home, it is resulting in mass chaos within the walls of our home!

So now is the time. Time to establish a schedule. Time to create routine during our quarantine.

Thriving instead of just Surviving…

Recently Katelyn James released a new YouTube video and blog post on “5 Tips for Thriving (Not Just Surviving) COVID-19” and I love her thoughts on this season of quarantine!

She so eloquent put into words what I have already been thinking. How can I make the most of this season? How can I use this season to focus more on my family? What do I have in my business that I can finally get done now that I have some extra time?

This sift in thinking actually has me EXCITED for the weeks ahead!

Creating Routine During Quarantine

Several weeks ago, my dear friend Nicole of Growing Me + Three wrote the blog post “Stay At Home Mom Daily Schedule“. I remember reading it and thinking “man, it would be nice to make that work for my family.” Yet, I did not take action on it.

But now is the time!

No more excuses!!

This is the season I become the mom that I WANT to be! This is the season that my home takes on the rhythms of order and structure that I long for!

Routine in quarantine

Resources

I wanted to share some additional resources that I have found and that I am beginning to use in our own home life.

  1. Positive Parenting Solutions: I LOVE good education! And this parenting resource is GOLD! I purchased this online course back at Christmas, but I have only made time to watch the first few lessons. This is the time to watch the full course and really implement all it teaches!
  2. Playing Preschool: Let’s be real. I have no idea what to do with my toddlers to keep them entertained, much less to TEACH them! Mother’s Day Out twice a week has been an amazing blessing, but is not an option for this season. It is time to dig into homeschooling my little people. I have purchased this amazing resources and I am so excited to jump in with Isaac and Pippa!
  3. The Ultimate Daily Routine Bundle: I have also purchased the Ultimate Daily Routine Bundle from The Military Wife And Mom. I especially love the printable routine cards for kids! I plan to cut them out and past to poster board so my littles have a visual checklist to go by.
  4. A Biblical Response to the Coronavirus Outbreak – for more on our response to the outbreak as a family and as a ministry.

We are in this together, even as we stay apart!

Ok moms! Who is in this with me? Are you ready to make the most of our quarantine? Are you ready to THRIVE and not just survive? Let’s get busy with creating routine during quarantine!

Let me know how you are doing in the comments below, and let’s cheer one another on!

COVID-19 Quarantine

A Biblical Response to The Coronavirus Outbreak

Yesterday as we were eating supper, I changed the TV from the kid’s shows that had been entertaining my littles to the evening news. As I watched the non-stop coverage of the growing Coronavirus pandemic I could feel fear and anxiety rising up in me. I was overwhelmed by the worldwide effects of this new illness as it is shutting down whole economies! This is NOT our Biblical Response to The Coronavirus Outbreak!!

After supper we loaded up as a family to take several boxes of snack bags to our parent ministry We Will Go. Holy Spirit used Amy Lancaster to bring the situation into Biblical perspective.

We are serving and ministering to the poorest population in our nation. There are no stockpiles. There is no savings. Kids are out of school and the single mom is faced with a decision: leave the kids at home and go to work, or stay home and don’t get paid. How does she make it without her paycheck?

What is our Biblical Response to The Coronavirus Outbreak? The Bible says “Do not fear” 365 times. Once for every day of the year! And the word “fear” is used over 500 times in the KJV! God has a LOT to say about fear!!

Will I give into fear and stockpile resources for my own family? Will I retreat into the safe bubble of my own home and be held hostage by fear? This is a fear based world view.

A Biblical world view says that I will not fear.

But when I am afraid,

I will put my trust in you.

I praise God for what he has promised.

I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?

What can mere mortals do to me?

Psalm 56:3-4 NLT

When fear attempts to creep in, I will declare my TRUST in the LORD! I will declare Psalm 91 over myself and my family! I will use my voice to speak Truth OUT LOUD!

Our Biblical Response to The Coronavirus Outbreak in Regards to Stockpiling

A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosityj— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Acts 2:43-47 NLT

Our Biblical Response to The Coronavirus Outbreak in regards to stockpiling is that we will continue to serve the Lord by sharing our resources with our neighbors in need. By sharing what we have today, we are declaring our trust in the Lord to provide for tomorrow! I am reminded of the Lord providing manna for the Israelites as they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. They were commanded to gather ONLY what they needed for that day, and anything extra they gathered in disobedience rotted overnight! This season of scarce resources is an opportunity for the Lord God Almighty to perform miracles of multiplication!! We are certainly praying for multiplication over our last 3 rolls of toilet paper!!

Our Biblical Response to The Coronavirus Outbreak in Regards to Social Distancing

Our Biblical Response to The Coronavirus Outbreak in regards to Social Distancing is that as a family we are honoring the request of our government officials to avoid gatherings of 10 or more people.

We are choosing to worship from home DAILY instead of attending services at our church.

We will continue to check on our neighbors and meeting their needs as we are able based on the resources the Lord provides.

We will continue to have other believers over to our house to share meals and pray together.

We will be constantly diffusing DoTerra OnGuard in our home. And each member of our family has their own bottle of OnGuard sanitizing spray! We will wash our hands often and disinfect our home daily. We will continue to build our immunity by taking DoTerra LLV supplements daily.

We WILL NOT live in fear! We WILL NOT stop serving the Lord!! We WILL share His love as we share the resources He provides!!

How can you help?

  1. PRAY!
    • Pray for the Lord to provide for the needs of our neighbors through His unlimited resources!
    • Pray for divine health for us, our neighbors, and our entire community!
    • Pray for an atmosphere of PEACE to overwhelm our community!
  2. GIVE!

National Day of Prayer

Proclamation on the National Day of Prayer for all Americans Affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic and for our National Response Efforts

In our times of greatest need, Americans have always turned to prayer to help guide us through trials and periods of uncertainty.  As we continue to face the unique challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, millions of Americans are unable to gather in their churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and other houses of worship.  But in this time we must not cease asking God for added wisdom, comfort, and strength, and we must especially pray for those who have suffered harm or who have lost loved ones.  I ask you to join me in a day of prayer for all people who have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and to pray for God’s healing hand to be placed on the people of our Nation.

As your President, I ask you to pray for the health and well-being of your fellow Americans and to remember that no problem is too big for God to handle.  We should all take to heart the holy words found in 1 Peter 5:7:  “Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you.”  Let us pray that all those affected by the virus will feel the presence of our Lord’s protection and love during this time.  With God’s help, we will overcome this threat.

I am not one to get into political debates EVER.

That said, I am THANKFUL that we have a president who calls us to PRAY and even quotes BIBLE during this time of national emergency. Please join us in this National Day of Prayer!

Today we are honoring the request of our President and Mississippi State Governor by worshipping from home.

Romans 13:1

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Coronavirus Action Plan!

Open letter to current and future MLP brides & grooms concerning our Coronavirus Action Plan!

I hope planning your wedding has been going smoothly! I wanted to check in and see how you are doing in light of the recent coronavirus outbreak updates. I know how stressful wedding planning can be, and this certainly doesn’t help!

I want to assure you that I have every intention of fulfilling my role at your wedding and that my business and I are prepared. I am declaring Psalm 91 over my family, my couples, and all your wedding guests! I am also staying updated on the latest information from the CDC, the WHO and local and state authorities; acting responsibly by avoiding travel to outbreak hotspots; practicing social distancing by holding most meetings online instead of in person; swapping hugs for a friendly wave; and, last but not least, practicing good hand hygiene.

I also wanted to let you know that I am part of a network of very talented and like-minded photographers who have agreed to cover one another in case of emergencies. If one of us is diagnosed with coronavirus, we will all work together to make sure that person’s brides and grooms are served with the same level of love and professionalism on their wedding day!

As an added resource, here is a link to a FREE PDF file by Ciarra Claire Fine Art that can be sent digitally to your wedding guests to address the current situation. With lots of prayer and a good plan in place I am confident that your wedding day will be the special day you have always dreamed of!

I’d love to know how you’re feeling about the situation. Are there any questions or concerns about your event I can help address? Please share in the comments below and let’s pray through this together!
